Nikko Fir
Abies homolepis
Unusual conifer, but excellent for the heat of the South. Makes a great outdoor Christmas tree, and has a nice smell when the needles are crushed. Needles are dark green and long. Tree iteself is tall and pyramidal, needs to be well drained and not too high of a pH in the soil. Great for screening and makes nice specimen as well. Very tough and hardy. Immature cones are red changing to purple for added interest!
