Disanthus or Redbud Hazel
Disanthus cercidifolius
Outrageous fall coloring deciduous shrub from Japan is highly valued for the beautiful shades of burgundy, yellow, orange, and red redbud-like leaves in autumn. Very similar to a Redbud in bloom, it has small purplish flowers in late summer/early fall. Best in partial shade and humus-rich soil. A good companion for corylopsis, rhododendrons, or styrax. Develops great fall color even in the Shade!
